Experience: As President and CEO of Global Strategic Connections, LLC (GSC), John is a seasoned global business veteran, directing business development and operations for revenue and profit growth with a solid track record of customer satisfaction. John initiated a global supply chain business using both U.S. business development capabilities and Chinese operational capacities in pharmaceutical intermediaries, nutraceutical product development, energy conservation management, and executive development training.

John continues to grow and diversify GSC by engaging in strategic ventures within the life sciences arena targeting new and expanding opportunities in the pharmaceutical, nutraceutical and agrochemical sectors. GSC continues to transform itself into both a contract manufacturing solutions provider and product sourcing leader. John is focused on bringing high quality, world-class manufacturing capabilities to support the clinical and commercial operations of small to medium sized pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, and biotech companies, as well as raw material suppliers. John uses his extensive experience and expertise to accelerate product development, commercialization and entry into international clinical and healthcare markets for GSC’s customers.

Previously, John served as Vice-President of Operations for SDE Business Partnering, a minority startup business based in Detroit, Michigan. He directed business partnerships development, project management support, and personnel staffing. He also developed maintenance, repair and operations (MRO) business for such clients as General Motors and Daimler Chrysler. Using an innovative approach to supply chain methodology, his strategy of enlisting more than 58 businesses as partners contributed to an average annual increase in revenue of 23 percent for four consecutive years, along with a corresponding annual profit increase of 29 percent. Prior to his work at SDE, John honed business development and operational executive skills as the electronic data systems (EDS) Project Manager for GM’s multi-plant manufacturing operation.


Strategic Planning:
John assisted in the structuring of an agrochemical joint venture assembling a strong investment group and forming a board of directors that included top Asian CEOs in the agrochemical industry to support the company’s entry and expansion into US and Brazilian agrochemical markets. John’s market insights reduced investment risk and expedited the formation of a US registered agrochemical company meeting US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations and requirements.
Prior to that, John served as a consultant to Fortune 500 clients, developing a standardized suite of consulting services to provide faster response. He reduced purchase order generation and processing times by 30 to 60 percent, and improved service quality by closely managing service provider skill-sets to meet project schedules, and standardized service engagement costs resulting in multi-year increases in revenues and profits.

Transformational Change:
John brought online and launched in six months five new private label nutraceutical products.
Within two months he turned around a stagnant service delivery operation by consolidating and leveraging the delivery expertise of more than 50 suppliers for a major automotive client’s IT staffing needs. The result decreased request response time by 56%, optimized operational costs, and increased profitability by 78% within six months.

Business Development and Sales Leadership:
John established an e-commerce search engine marketing launch for a nutraceutical product distribution campaign. , and has personally closed private and public sector contracts for up to $39.5 million with organizations such as General Motors, EDS, IBM, Dickson Allan, Ciber, Hisun Pharmaceuticals, and Shining Tech LTD.

New Business Start-up:
John oversaw new product formulation, development and launch of a new line of pharmaceutical grade nutraceutical products including 10 natural vitamins, minerals and dietary supplements within one year. He was responsible for solidifying new product formulation requirements, packaging, distribution, e-commerce presence, and operational readiness in three months.
He was a major contributor to a strategic partnership alignment and minority joint-venture business which grew to $36 million in sales within four years.

Global Supply Chain Engagements:
Provided new sourcing channels and alternatives for over 50 distributors and end-user manufacturers. Implemented a lean mentality in multiple multinational manufacturing facilities. Expanded into international markets and facilitated acceleration of the strategic planning process to operational implementation.

Education: A graduate of Western Michigan University, John earned his Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering with a minor in mathematics. He earned his Master’s degree in manufacturing systems engineering from the University of Michigan.

Community Involvement: John is actively involved with GSC’s Community Outreach programs including support of establishing the Oakland County Mandarin program across Oakland County School districts. He actively supports foundations and sponsors community service organizations including: The Parade Company, Brooksie Way Marathon, St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital, Council of Asia Pacific Americans (CAPA) and others. John also is involved in professional organizations, such as Automation Alley, MichBio, Troy Chamber of Commerce, Oakland County Medical Mainstreet, Michigan Minority Business Develop Council, and others.

Personal: John nurtures the leadership development of the next generation through his two boys. He actively supports his sons’ sports (swimming, golfing, basketball, skiing, sledding, soccer, hockey, to name a few) as well as their music (piano & violin). An avid reader, John continually reads to stay informed of new information, changes in thinking, and advances in science and technology.
